First Jolla Phone (Sailfish OS)

Finnish start-up Jolla has finally unveiled its new smartphone that runs on the MeeGo based Sailfish OS. Currently, there is no clarity on the name given to the device, but design wise it reminds of some of the Nokia Lumia devices out there in the market. It has a user removable back plate that will be available in multiple colors. Jolla is promising a 4.5-inch screen, a dual-core processor, 4G connectivity, 16GB of internal memory, a micro-SD card slot and a 8- megapixel rear camera. It also has a user removable battery thanks to the removable back plate.
Jolla also says the device will be compatible with Android apps, which is always a good thing; however previous Android compliant operating systems like QNX on the BlackBerry PlayBook have proved this does not convert to a good user experience.
The device is up for pre-order for 399 Euros, and Jolla say that it plans to ship the device by the end of 2013. Jolla was founded by a group of ex-Nokia employees who worked on the MeeGo OS seen in the Nokia N9.
